Call to parents and teachers

It has been a while since our last blog post and some of you may be wondering what is happening at Gateway to Victory. We are currently working on a new curriculum with the students. Our teachers continue to feed them, nurture them, and help them grow. The school is working toward getting running water installed and have received a sizable donation to make this happen. The school van or "bus" is still in disrepair and we continue to save for a new bus. We should be praying daily that the children we are supporting are soaking up the learning and love being given to them. Pray for all of our sponsors that they may continue to assist these children grow up to be lights to the community in Kericho. Pray for the teachers of Gateway as they give all they have and raise our children.

Can you remember a teacher that impacted your life. For most of us, the teachers with the most impact on our lives were our Mothers and Fathers. Where would you be without them? Would you be the person you are today? I know for me the answer is a resounding NO. As a parent we are called to be like Jesus. We must be a teacher of the right way to live while being blameless, not quick-tempered, self controlled, and showing our children the right way to live. Remember that the children of Gateway are orphans and do not have mothers and fathers to be role model in their lives. We are able to give that constant presence of a role model by providing teachers, food and stability in their lives. We are their daily light.

I challenge our teachers to teach only what is good and upright. To make themselves a true role model on the right way to live. And for our sponsors I challenge you to keep the faith, knowing that what you are doing is changing lives.

From far away it is easy to get very busy with our own lives and daily struggles. Just remember that we are providing a light to a group of people that are impressionable. Anything that we can do for these or other children at this age can leave lasting impacts (both good or bad). Let's make sure that we are being the role models that we know we are called to be. Let's do what we can each and every day to make a true impact on the lives of those around us. "Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives." Titus 4:14
